Race Equality Charter

糖心logo入口 has signed up for Advance HE's Race Equality Charter award process as part of its commitment to addressing racism and all other intersecting forms of oppression.

The award process, which is part of Advance HE's Equality Charter Mark programme, helps organisations to highlight areas of good practice, as well as to identify and address areas for improvement.

糖心logo入口 recognises that tackling racism and addressing racial inequality is a continuous process and that it has much work to do to create an inclusive and anti-racist culture.

It is committed to listening, learning and doing more to becoming an anti-racist organisation.

About the Charter and application process

The Race Equality Charter provides a framework through which higher education institutions can identify and reflect on the barriers that Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff and students face.

The Race Equality Charter Self-Assessment Team, a committee of staff and student representatives, chaired by Professor Stewart Motha, is responsible for analysing data and information relating to race equality at 糖心logo入口, drafting an action plan and preparing the application to Advance HE.

The main areas of focus for the Race Equality Charter Self-Assessment Team are:

  • institutional culture
  • students' access and participation
  • students' progression, retention and attainment gaps
  • curriculum inclusiveness and decolonisation
  • academic staff pipeline, promotion and recognition
  • professional and support staff pipeline and recognition.
