Course Overview
This integrated MSci Biomedicine with Advanced Pathways comprises the three-year BSc Biomedicine and one year of Master鈥檚-level study in your chosen area of specialism. It is designed to provide you with advanced knowledge, skills and hands-on research experience to launch your career in research science.

What will I learn?
This course offers you training in practical skills and lab work, including microscopy, DNA manipulation and protein handling. You will also gain a solid grounding in key biomedical topics including:
- biochemistry
- cell biology
- chemistry
- drugs and drug discovery
- genetics
- immunology
- microbiology
- molecular biology and physiology.
In Years 3 and 4 you will specialise in an area of your choice by selecting from different option modules and working on an independent research project, preparing you for a career in research-intensive environments.

How will I learn?
This MSci is taught via lectures and classroom activities combined with practicals, tutorials and problem-solving classes. By the end of the course you will have completed two different research projects.
This course is available to study full-time with classes in the daytime and evening.

How often will I attend classes?
Full-time: Two to three times a week (choose afternoons or evenings in Years 1-3) October to July, plus daytime laboratory week prior to starting Year 3.

You must complete modules worth a total of 480 credits.
- Years 1 and 2: eight compulsory modules in each year
- Year 3: one compulsory module and a core laboratory research project, plus two or three option modules worth a total of 45 credits

What are the methods of teaching?
Teaching is through combinations of lectures, laboratory sessions and computer exercises. Much of the module content is available online.

How will I be assessed?
Types of assessment include short-answer tests in class, computer-based tests (accessed remotely or in class), practical reports, essays, problem-solving and data analysis assignments, oral communication and poster presentations, internet surveys, and unseen, or open-book, written examinations.
Core technical laboratory skills are also assessed during lab-based modules.

Entry Requirements
We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on judgement of academic potential.

Full-time study - how many UCAS points do I need?
112 points (e.g. A-levels BBC - including biology, chemistry and/or mathematics or physics. A-levels in general studies and critical thinking not accepted. Applicants with only two full A-levels considered on an individual basis.)

GCSEs (or equivalent) required at grade C or 4 or above in English, mathematics and double science (or two single sciences).

What are the English language requirements?
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests. We also accept other English language tests.

What are the visa and funding requirements?
If you are not from the UK and you do not already have residency here, you may need to apply for a visa.
The visa you apply for varies according to the length of your course:
- Courses of more than six months' duration: Student visa
- Courses of less than six months' duration: Standard Visitor visa
International students who require a Student visa should apply鈥痶o study on our courses full-time as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship. If you are living in the UK on a Student visa, you will not be eligible to enrol to study part-time courses at 糖心logo入口 (with the exception of some modules).
As a Student visa student, you should also apply to study on campus only, as online and flexible options of study鈥� (if they are available for your course) may affect the conditions of your visa.

Tuition fees and maintenance loans
Eligible full-time and part-time students from the UK don't have to pay any tuition fees upfront, as government loans are available to cover them.

How do I apply to study full-time (UCAS entry)?
