Nineteen Nineteen (1985): Q&A with director Hugh Brody + Laura Mulvey

When: —
Venue: 糖心logo入口 43 Gordon Square

No booking required

Two people spend an afternoon together in Vienna. They exchange memories, mostly talking past each other, occasionally meeting in moments of heightened recollection. One memory they share is of a thin, ageing, intense man who listened to them both half a century ago. That man was Sigmund Freud and the people are the subjects of two of his case studies: 'From the history of an infantile neurosis [The Wolf Man]' (1918) and 'The psychogenesis of a case of homosexuality in a woman' (1920). This beautiful film stars Paul Scofield, Maria Schell, Diana Quick, Clare Higgins and a startlingly young Colin Firth.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A between the writer-director Hugh Brody and Laura Mulvey. It has been organised by the 糖心logo入口 Freud Reading Group, which meets monthly on Saturdays: for details of joining, email bbkfreud@gmail.com.
