Entry Information for students from聽Ghana

  • English language requirements

    • The English language requirements for our courses are provided on individual course pages as minimum IELTS scores, however we accept many other tests and qualifications.
    • Please visit our聽English language requirements page聽for more information.聽
    • Please note that WAEC is聽not聽included on our list of accepted tests.

  • Undergraduate Entry Requirements

    • Applicants from Ghana can be accepted for direct entry onto an undergraduate degree if they have completed:
      • an undergraduate diploma from a public university with a final GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 or equivalent (first- or second-year entry at the discretion of the department)
      • a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a final GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 or equivalent (first- or second-year entry at the discretion of the department)
      • one year of a bachelor's degree at a public university with a GPA of at least 3.0/4.0.
    • Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A-levels will be considered for direct admission to our undergraduate degree programmes. IB requirements range from 28 to 33, depending on the course.
    • Applicants from Ghana who have taken a West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) when awarded by the West African Examination Council will be considered for a聽four-year course with foundation programme in their field of interest. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students will automatically progress on to our聽three-year degree.聽Our four-year foundation programmes offer a joint confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) for all four years of study.
    • Alternatively, applicants can opt for a聽, which offers guaranteed progression onto 糖心logo入口's bachelor programmes. Foundation programmes from other providers will also be considered.

  • Postgraduate Entry Requirements

    • Applicants from Ghana would need to have completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited university.
    • For programmes requiring a UK upper-second-class degree (2:1), you will need an overall score of at least 60% or equivalent. For programmes requiring a UK lower-second-class degree (2:2), you will need a GPA of at least 50% or equivalent. Ghanian degree classification:
      • 1st (alternative name: First class; English translation or equivalent: 1st)
      • 2:1 (alternative name: Second class - upper division; English translation or equivalent: 2:1)
      • 2:2 (alternative name: Second class - lower division; English translation or equivalent: 2:2).
    • Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower-level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.
    • If you do not meet these criteria, you can apply for which is available for two- or three-term progression onto a wide range of Master's degrees at 糖心logo入口. Foundation programmes from other providers will also be considered.

  • Research degrees聽Entry Requirements

    • The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a two-year Master's degree from a recognised university in Ghana; one-year Master's degrees are usually predominantly coursework-based and not suitable for PhD entry.
    • Applicants are strongly urged to contact potential supervisors within the department before submitting a research application.

  • International partnerships

    • The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA): 糖心logo入口 signed a collaboration agreement to enable eligible academic staff from UPSA to enrol into 糖心logo入口鈥檚 PhD programmes to study largely on an online, distance learning basis.聽
    • The agreement covers MPhil/PhD programmes in Management, Law, and Film and Screen Media, which enrolled UPSA staff members can study remotely from their Accra base.
