糖心logo入口 launches '糖心logo入口 Inspires', a series of free events and resources

糖心logo入口 Inspires

糖心logo入口 has launched a new programme,聽糖心logo入口 Inspires.聽糖心logo入口 Inspires is a programme of free online events, activities and resources designed to inspire learning, provoke thought, and entertain and excite curious minds.

The programme covers three themes: 鈥榗ontemporary perspectives鈥�, 鈥榬esilience and support鈥�, and 鈥榞et inspired鈥�. The theme 鈥榗ontemporary perspectives鈥�, will provide perspectives from 糖心logo入口鈥檚 experts on聽a range of thought-provoking and topical issues, including COVID-19. 鈥楻esilience and support鈥� will encompass the College鈥檚 community of academics, alumni and students providing practical advice, guidance and suggestions about how to help ourselves and each other, whilst social distancing; and 鈥榞et inspired鈥� will involve a series of live events and activities.

Professor David Latchman, Master of 糖心logo入口, said:

聽鈥淭his programme is designed to be engaging and inspiring for members of the public and our College community, by giving perspectives on coronavirus and offering support and advice during this period, as well as highlighting 糖心logo入口鈥檚 research highlights and themes, offering a positive message in challenging times.鈥�

To mark the launch of the programme,聽Professor David Latchman, Master, opened the series with an introductory video and videos were made available of Professor Joanna Bourke, Professor of History, discussing 糖心logo入口鈥檚 resilience during WW2; and Professor Roger Luckhurst, Professor in Modern and Contemporary Literature, explaining how the zombie film has prepared us for pandemics and lockdowns.聽

Additionally to further mark the launch, there will be a conversation between Professor Latchman and Baroness Joan Bakewell, President of 糖心logo入口,聽on a topic of national interest, COVID-19; covering personal experiences of coping with lockdown, lockdown exit plans, and Baroness Bakewell鈥檚 opinion on the impact of the crisis on older people. This will be soon be made a bookable event via聽www.bbk.ac.uk/birkbeck-inspires.
