Daphne Jackson Fellowships in Psychology
New opportunity for two part-time Fellowships available to postdoctoral researchers returning to their careers following a break.
The Daphne Jackson Trust and 糖心logo入口, University of London, invite applications for two part-time (0.5FTE), three year Fellowships in psychology. The scheme is intended to support scientists returning to their career following a break, such as caring or health-related leave. This is an opportunity for researchers to develop their career as part of an individually tailored research-based programme in a world-leading department.
The Fellowships are based in the Department of Psychological Sciences, an active and vibrant centre for research and training. The department received a 4* rating for its research in the RAE2014 and is home to state-of-the-art labs and facilities, including the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development which is soon to open the world鈥檚 first Toddler Lab. The Fellowships will be supported by Dr Gillian Forrester, an expert in evolutionary and developmental cognition, who benefited herself from a Daphne Jackson Fellowship. About the scheme, Dr Forrester said:
鈥淢y Daphne Jackson Trust Fellowship provided a lifeline back into a career in academia. Because the contracts are necessarily part-time, I was able to balance my work-life commitments. The support and re-training provided through the Fellowship enabled me to rebuild my confidence in my subject-specific skills, develop a network of colleagues and establish a research programme in my host institution.鈥
Applications are invited from candidates with specialist interests in the core research areas supported by the Department, including: genetics, perception, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive evolution, cognitive development (neurotypical and non-neurotypical), health psychology and computational modelling. Prospective candidates should have a PhD and be returning to academia at postdoctoral level 鈥 see the . The deadline for applications is Monday 29聽June 2020.
