Event report - IAG Practitioner Group Meeting

The first IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on 21st September in person and was well attended by college and HEI partner representatives.

The meeting began with a presentation听by听Joanne Fraud & Julia Chard, Demand Team at the DfE Higher Technical Education Division听who presented听to the group firstly giving a background of level 4/5 qualifications, the reforms the government鈥檚 been working on and how HTQs fit into it. Helen Twomey from Amazing Apprenticeships then spoke on the HTQ draft guide for teachers and education professionals听and asked the group for any feedback.听听

After a short comfort break,听Max La Faci & Haleema Masud, Policy Advisers at UCAS听presented to the group giving a UCAS update including a 2023 cycle update, key themes from results day and their journey to a million.听They听highlighted some of the work UCAS is doing to support with a spotlight on fair access and apprenticeships including their new Outreach Connection Service which will allow universities and colleges to听showcase听their opportunities to underrepresented groups to UK schools and colleges.听Lastly听they听gave a reform update, including references, personal statements, entry grades and more.听

Lastly,听Caroline听Tolond, Head of Careers and Employability at Arden University听presented to the group on an overview of the new Career Chatbot at Arden University including its implementation, how听it's听used, feedback, lessons learnt and next steps.听

The next meeting听will take place听in the Spring term, 18th January 2024, 2-4pm.听
