World Book Day, International Women’s Day, International Day of Happiness and Mother’s Day all fall during March and we’ll be marking them at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú.
World Book Day – March 6thÌý
This year, ·É±ð’r±ð marking World Book Day to celebrate the impressive literary achievements of Birkbeck staff and students who have published books – both factual ones and fiction. Did you know that world famous poet, playwright and literary critic, T S Eliot taught English at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú for a short time in 1915 or that David Eldridge, a current lecturer in creative writing at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú has had his plays performed at the National Theatre and has written extensively for the television? In fact, he has a sell-out play at the National Theatre this November.ÌýÌý
International Women’s Day – March 8thÌý
ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú was one of the first colleges in the country to admit women as students in 1830 and counts numerous famous women among its staff and alumni. Did you know that biophysicist and crystallographer Rosalind Franklin, whose work significantly advanced our understanding of DNA, studied at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú?ÌýOther notable women include astronaut, Helen Sharman; and current leader of the opposition Kemi Badenoch, are part of ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú’s history. Throughout March there will be several events, including the public seminar on War and Women's Rights, and theÌýEmpowering Women in Tech: Breaking Barriers & Building FuturesÌýonline session.Ìý
International Day of Happiness – March 20thÌý

Mother’s Day – March 30thÌýÌý
Mother’s Day means a lot to us because a lot of our students are mums.ÌýFor many courses, ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú offers daytime study, evening study or both, full-time, part-time, on campus, online or a mixture, allowing students to choose their own timetable and balance studying alongside being a mother.
