Students visit London鈥檚 most innovative hot spots as part of the London Venture Crawl

Budding entrepreneurs recently took to London鈥檚 iconic red double decker buses as part of the London Venture Crawl, designed to teach students about entrepreneurship and innovative thinking.

A group of 糖心logo入口听students recently embarked on a听12-hour bus ride around the city听to听meet top entrepreneurial leaders and听experience some of London鈥檚 top innovation hubs and workspaces听from a range of industries.听

The event听marks the third听year听that听the Venture Crawl has taken place, and听its popularity continues to grow, with听over听250听students听from 16听London universities embarking听on the听unique journey听this year.听Venture Crawls also took place in听Birmingham, Manchester and Chicago on the same day.听Students were given the opportunity to talk to experts about their business ideas,听build their networks听with like-minded individuals, and learn more about setting up听their own听start-up.听听

Guest speakers spoke about innovation and how to stay ahead of the curve, as well as intellectual property and branding. Speakers included听Kofi Oppong, Founder of Urban MBA,听that runs听a training programme designed to equip young people not in education, employment or training and Lou Dalton, men鈥檚 fashion designer.

The tour stops included听Bootstrap Charity, that provides workspace and an enterprise bootcamp for young people;听Poplar Works, a range of studios dedicated for those working in fashion; and听Plexal, a workspace for tech start-ups and scale-ups.听听

Students鈥� comments on the day included:听鈥淏ootstrap Charity really inspired me鈥�, 鈥淭he speakers were great鈥�, 鈥淢y favourite part of the day was learning about companies that help the community鈥�, and 鈥淎ll the speakers were fab!鈥�听

During the day each bus听held听a pitching competition and students on the buses听pitched听their ideas, with each bus鈥檚 highest voted pitch put forward to a competition at听Plexal. The winner of the 鈥楶itch for the Day鈥� was听student听Emmy Tanimura, with her idea of innovative clothing solutions for homeless people, such as a听warm winter coat that can be transformed into a rucksack.听

鈥淰enture Crawl is an ambitious and full-on day, but it鈥檚 truly one of the best ways to experience London鈥檚 vibrant start-up scene and it鈥檚 something we look forward to every year. We get stuck into so many different aspects of entrepreneurship like social enterprise, innovation, intellectual property and pitching 鈥� there鈥檚 something for everyone, and it鈥檚 also a great way to network with like-minded enterprise students.鈥�听
