ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú

I moved firms to Investec four months after my degree started. I think studying for my master’s is what helped me secure the job as it showed I was hard working and passionate about economics. It gave me more credibility, especially asÌý±õ’mÌýstill relatively young in my mid-20s.ÌýÌý

I made lots of connections with people in the industryÌýÌýÌý

When I started at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú, IÌý»å¾±»å²Ô’tÌýreally know anyone in the economics sphere apart from the people in my firm, asÌý³Ù³ó±ð°ù±ð’sÌýnot manyÌýnetworking events within economics. But now I have lots of connections with people from my course who work inÌýdifferent typesÌýof economics, our paths do cross occasionally.ÌýIt'sÌýquite nice toÌýactually knowÌýpeople, and over timeÌýeveryone'sÌýgoing to become more senior so having those connections will beÌýreally beneficialÌý– I knowÌý±õ’v±ðÌýmade networks for life.ÌýÌý

The teaching was stronger at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú than the university I did my undergraduate degree atÌýÌý

I was so impressed with how quick and thorough the replies to emails were, with any question that I had. I thinkÌýit'sÌýa feature of ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú because people really want to be there.ÌýI think thisÌýimproves the relationship with lecturers because they know how hardÌýyou'reÌýworking and how muchÌýyou'reÌýputting in. Most people also have jobs, which makes the lecturesÌýreally interestingÌýbecause you can draw from your own experiencesÌýand alsoÌýhear about your classmates’ knowledge on other topics.ÌýÌý

Being at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú built my confidence, professionally and personallyÌýÌý

Having aÌý²Ñ²¹²õ³Ù±ð°ù’sÌýdegree to my name has built my confidence atÌýwork, becauseÌýI feel more credible and knowledgeable. When I was studyingÌývirtually dueÌýto the Covid-19 pandemic, I learnt to connect with people in unconventional circumstances; with one girl, we were on Zoom calls for three hours a day leading up to the exams. When things returned to normal after the pandemic, I met with people on myÌýcourseÌýand we now go out together for drinks as well as talk regularly on a group WhatsApp.ÌýÌý

Gaining time management and organisational skillsÌýÌý

I really developed my time management skills because of how much I had to balance when I was studying whilst working, which has served me well in my current role.ÌýI also found IÌýearned respect from my colleagues as I was able to do the degree on top of our long working hours.ÌýÌý

Working whilst studying meant IÌý»å¾±»å²Ô’tÌýhave to compromise on my careerÌýÌý

I think takingÌýa whole yearÌýout from working to do a full-timeÌý²Ñ²¹²õ³Ù±ð°ù’sÌýwould have made it much more difficult to get back into a firm, becauseÌý¾±³Ù’sÌýso competitive.Ìý±õ’dÌýrecommend part-time study at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú to others –Ìý¾±³Ù’sÌýa great wayÌýof getting a qualification without stopping or pausing your career.ÌýÌý
